Wildfires

Sitting at home last night watching the fires was pretty brutal. its hard for me to just sit there on my couch relaxing when I’m watching someone suffer (unless its Survivor and then we feast). I just wanted to do something. And I bet others wanted to as well.
Tonight was HSM’s Arena night where the small groups normally get together and play fun games. Tonight we’re having a scavenger hunt but not just for fun. Its for donations to help the hundreds of thousands of people who have been evacuated tonight due to the fires.
I spoke with a pastor friend in San Diego this morning. He said the fire was three miles frim his apartment. Another pastor I know had a meeting today but couldn’t make it cause his neighborhood was being evacuated. Crazy how quickly we realize how powerless we are at times. But together we can show how powerful God is. I’m proud of our HSM students tonight.

  1. That is so cool. Did you get a lot of stuff? Kevin was impressed with your idea. Good job Dustin!

  2. Yeah, we filled a full sized pick up with stuff. People were very generous and said they’re planning on dropping off more stuff this week. The students did a great job and had alot of fun.

Just in case anyone wants to donate, I was at the Red Cross this morning and they said they have an agreement with Goodwill Industries. Goodwill will take any donations for the fire (make sure you tell them it’s for the fire), and the Red Cross will receive credit vouchers to help with the relief.
