The Idea Camp

Here’s something I’m looking forward to.  The Idea Camp is an “Un-conference“.  It will be February 27th-28th in Irvine.

Most conferences operate with people paying money for experts to come speak at them for a fee.  I’ve been to many conferences and have learned so much.  Most of them have been worth the money.

But this one is about a group of people coming together to share ideas and collaboratively shape each other into better leaders, pastors, and followers of Christ.

The cool thing about it is that it’s free.  No one who attends has to pay and the presenters (some good names) don’t get paid either.  It’s all about open source helping one another out.

Four values they ask you to have:
-Be Open & Listen to Others
-Be Communal & Share What You Know
-Be Intentional & Collaboratively Invest in Each Other
-Be Optimistic & Don’t Be a Jerk

As I’ve made the transition to lead pastor in a church plant, I’ve really felt the need for collaborative input and ideas.  I’ve also not had as much resources as I did in the larger church setting to be able to afford hitting a good conference.

I’m planning on being there.  You should too.  Hope to see you there.  While you’re in town, take an extra day to hit DL as well.  It’s the best time of year to be there.

Who wants to go?
